Participation on an athletic team is open to all middle
school and high school students. Student participation is
highly encouraged for the social benefit as well as for
skill development.

As a member of the Colorado
High School Activities Association (CHSAA), Shining Mountain
plays competitively in basketball and volleyball against schools
of a similar size.

Athletic Philosophy
The success of the Shining Mountain Lions
results from having balanced athletes who can think clearly,
interact with emotional stability, and perform with discipline
and courage. Emphasis is on good physical conditioning, sound
fundamental skills, focused effort in practice and games, and
unselfish teamwork.
