A faculty member, who is a member of the National Association for College Admissions and Counseling, serves as the High School’s college counselor. Beginning in tenth grade, students take the PSAT and PLAN tests in preparation for the SAT and ACT tests the following year and in senior year. In eleventh grade a year-long course helps students identify post-high school iinterests and possible directions. At the time of college applications, students meet regularly one- on-one with the college counselor.
Ninety percent of Shining Mountain graduates attend four-year colleges and universities, and five percent attend two-year colleges.
